What does a Supervisor, Material Control do?

Based on the direction of the Manager, Material Control, the Material Control Supervisor is responsible for directing the activities of Material Control employees. This includes tasks related to receiving, issuing, shipping, sale requests, and projects within the Material Control Department.

Department Supervision:

  • Assists Manager, Material Control with development, implementation of policies and procedures; ensures all established policies and procedures are held to company standards.
  • Monitor established processes for shipping, receiving, and issuing of material and make recommendations for process improvement as required.
  • Overlook all shipping, receiving, issuing, sale requirements and projects activities performed by the Material Control team.
  • Maintains a high degree of visibility and motivation to Material Control employees.
  • Coordinate with the Manager, Material Control to manage personnel issues and requests.

Material Storage and Distribution

  • Ensure Material at the Trenton Location is stored safely and customer supplied material is processed following established policies and procedures.
  • Follow up with other departments regarding timely corrective action for Receiving Rejections.
  • Ensure tool crib is kept tidy and complete.
  • Ensure Sales requests for information, pulling and/or shipping are actioned promptly.
  • Generate, order, and restock specific inventory on a weekly basis.
  • Monitor shipping related supplies and requisition additional supplies, as necessary.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education is an asset.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Must be able to work under time constraints and have good decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Previous experience as a Receiving Inspector.
  • Forklift certified or able to become forklift certified.
  • Must be flexible for after hours AOG when required.
